I received my Masters in Social Work with focus in Advanced Clinical Practice from Columbia University. I have extensive experience in the field of Maternal Mental Health, particularly with obstetrics, postpartum emotional experiences, fertility challenges, loss, and supporting a partner during difficult times. I have worked in healthcare systems, startups, and corporate environments; I sympathize with the stressors related. I firmly believe that awareness is where healing begins.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in mental health. I am a graduate of Adelphi University and have been trained in the use of DBT, CBT, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness approaches. I have spent my career in a variety of roles which have allowed me to develop a unique skill set and an integrated approach to treatment.
I began practicing as a mental health counselor in 2013 and have worked with adults, adolescents, families and couples struggling with disorders ranging from depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, to borderline personality disorder. My practice is informed by Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — both evidence-based interventions that help clients make positive changes in behaviors and build coping skills and strategies to live more fully. I help clients build their own strengths to make change possible. I received my MA in Counseling in 2012 from Maryville University in St. Louis and am licensed in both New York State and Missouri. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a public relations and marketing executive and business consultant. I hold a Masters degree in German and speak German fluently.
As a devoted therapist, I believe that we all have the inner strength to overcome our obstacles, sometimes we just need the education, support, and empowerment to help us along. It takes strength to even acknowledge that we need that help, so you are already doing awesome taking this first step! I have experience working with individuals struggling with a wide range of challenges and backgrounds. I currently specialize in working with young adults and adolescents facing difficulties with ADHD and anxiety.
I’m a warm, personable, and affirming therapist who welcomes people from all walks of life. I use my own intersectionality to better empathize with and understand the diverse experiences clients bring into the room. I’m collaborative and engaged—offering support while also gently challenging you when it can help you grow. My goal is to create a safe, empowering space where you feel understood, respected, and actively supported on your path forward.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and the unique emotional challenges that come with navigating cultural identity and family dynamics. I work with children as young as 6, teens, and adults up to age 65.
I am proud to call myself a New Yorker and a South Asian immigrant, who has spent nearly three decades helping clients navigate our healthcare system. I am a licensed Therapist, with additional Masters degrees in communication and management. I have worked both in some of the largest hospital systems including New York Presbyterian and NYU Brooklyn, as well as smaller community clinics and mobile crisis. My diverse experience provides me with a solid foundation of the complexities in dealing with mental health, with a strong knowledge of both therapy and medication management. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, PTST, OCD and bipolar, in addition to severe mental illness. I enjoy interacting with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including couples and families. I tailor my sessions to meet the individual needs of clients and families.
I started my career as a litigation attorney in Ireland where I grew up. I spent many years working in law and financial services in the US, Australia, and China. Most recently, I worked as a therapist for a community activist organization.
I was drawn to therapy from my prior career having seen firsthand the enormous value it can bring in improving both the quality and enjoyment of our lives. Therapy offers us a safe space to explore the parts of ourselves we cannot access in the midst of our daily routines. When we get right down to it, the quality of the relationships we have with others flows from the relationship we have with ourselves.
I live in Brooklyn with my husband, our two kids and a mildly anxious dog, whose interest in therapy is limited to eating her feelings. I work with clients both in person, in mid-town Manhattan, and remotely.
