A decision to begin therapy is not always easy, but it can be a decision that is life changing. Benefits of psychotherapy include greater self-awareness, decreased emotional distress, better problem solving skills, and healthier more fulfilling relationships. I ensure a safe space, and will build a trusting relationship that is open and nonjudgmental to work collaboratively with you on achieving your personal goals.
Whether you are returning to therapy, or beginning for the first time, sometimes taking the initial step to reach out can feel daunting. Feel free to email me with any questions or inquiries.
I also offer video/remote teletherapy sessions for those who need more flexible scheduling.
Psychodynamic psychotherapist in private practice with 15 years experience.
Master of Social Work degree from New York University.
Participant at Apres Coup Psychoanalytic Association since 1990
I'm a dedicated, passionate therapist focused on helping people who struggle with anxiety, depression and trauma-related conditions. My experience spans a variety of settings including outpatient mental health, NYC public schools, residential care, domestic violence shelters, and substance abuse programs.
In my private practice, I take a psychodynamic approach (which means mostly talk therapy) to help clients understand and address issues that can hold them back from living a more fulfilled life.
Outside of my private practice, I have extensive experience working in school settings, and I've provided clinical supervision for social workers and consultation to medical and education staff who serve in school settings.
I received my social work degree from New York University and a BA in Psychology from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I also completed a postgraduate fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy through the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education, and I'm currently a doctoral candidate at Smith College School of Social Work.
Through an individualized therapeutic approach, I explore the unconscious motivations that prevent clients from reaching their goals. I practice cognitive and behavioral therapy and can assist clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, career, relationship and behavioral issues. Life experience and maturity enable me to help clients pursue their journey to personal and professional fulfillment.
Psychotherapy provides a space to achieve personal growth and navigate challenges within a trusting, supportive relationship with a trained expert. As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in helping people with a variety of problems, including those struggling with mood, emotion regulation, trauma, identity, relationships, academic/professional issues, body image, and eating disorders. Together, we identify and work toward goals while seeking deeper understanding into their behaviors and problems.
I am trained in multiple treatment modalities, including psychodynamic, relational, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, and systemic family therapies. My work is highly influenced by a multicultural approach, and I work with each individual to develop a tailor-made, integrative treatment to address his or her needs.
Personal growth is a lifelong process and for many, psychotherapy can be an incredibly fulfilling step in the journey. My goal is to provide a warm and safe environment that is fruitful to deep and long-lasting change. See my website for more information on my practice and areas of specialization, and call or email me to set up an initial consultation.
With a caring and nonjudgmental approach, I work with clients to help them achieve the deep satisfaction and joy missing from their lives. Many circumstances have brought you to the point where anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or frustration have made it difficult for you to live your best life. Together we embark on a journey that helps you to better understand yourself and then implement changes so that you are in charge again.
I also have extensive experience working with children, teens, and families. I can help bring the joy back to parenting your child (whether they are struggling with ADHD, OCD, school phobia or are on the spectrum) we can work together so that you feel empowered to provide the best support necessary
I also offer teletherapy sessions.
